Dr. Marcella Siqueira Cassiano is a Lecturer in Sociology at the AVĪŽĀė and the University of Alberta. Marcella holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Alberta and a masterās degree from Shandong University in China. Her research projects focus on population governance, particularly the policies, practices, and technologies that manufacture social conformity and regulate populations in the contexts of work and migration.
In her talk, Marcella will present the most popular workplace surveillance practices in the workcamps of Albertaās oil sands region, and discuss their consequences from the perspective of employers and employees.
