AV无码 Board Chair Jim Gendron Steps Down

EDMONTON, Alberta 鈥 AV无码 (AV无码) today announced that Jim Gendron, Chair of the Board of Governors, has informed the Board that he will be stepping down from his role for personal reasons.

Gendron joined AV无码鈥檚 Board of Governors as a community member in 2020, a full member in 2022, and was appointed Chair in 2023. During his tenure, he helped guide the university through a period of transition and renewal, strengthening the Board鈥檚 governance processes and deepening engagement with the broader community.

鈥淚t has been a privilege to serve AV无码 as a member of the Board and, most recently, as Chair,鈥 said Gendron. 鈥淥ver the past several years, I have witnessed the extraordinary dedication of AV无码鈥檚 faculty, staff, and leadership team in advancing the university鈥檚 mission and expanding its impact as Alberta鈥檚 largest independent university. Although my time on the Board is coming to a close, my commitment to AV无码 remains steadfast. I look forward to continuing to champion its work and success as a proud Board alumnus and engaged community neighbour.”

President and Vice-Chancellor Tim Loreman expressed gratitude for Gendron鈥檚 leadership and lasting contributions.

鈥淛im鈥檚 thoughtful and steady leadership has strengthened our Board and supported AV无码鈥檚 continued growth,鈥 said Loreman. 鈥淯nder his guidance, AV无码 advanced several major initiatives, including the completion and inauguration of Braaksma Hall and the groundbreaking of our new student residence. Beyond his formal responsibilities, Jim has been an engaged supporter and generous donor whose presence and positivity have enriched our entire campus community. During this transition, Vice Chair Patricia (Trish) Bronsch will assume the role of Acting Chair. The Board of Governors will appoint a new Board Chair at their next regularly scheduled meeting on November 21, 2025.
