The Concordia Symphony Orchestra presents its Winter program ā€œLand of the Longing.ā€ā€‹ Come join us for an afternoon of inspiring symphonic music from three titans of the repertoire: Schumann, Beethoven and Mendelssohn.

The program pulls from the spirited verve of Beethovenā€™s Egmont overture to the contemplative depiction of Fingalā€™s cave by Mendelssohn. This musical crossing is centred around Schumannā€™s iconic symphony no. 3, ā€œRhenish.ā€ Always inventive and always ahead of its time, this symphony showcases Schumannā€™s genius at its height but also foreshadows the melancholy traps of the composerā€™s final years.
